      Download free favicons
A favicon is a small, 16*16 px image, that is shown inside the browser's location bar and bookmark menu when your site is called up. It is a good way to brand your site and increase it's prominence in your visitor's bookmark menu.. The favicon often symbolizes the site and adds a more professional touch to the design. Unfortunately, not all the graphical software support the .ico format and allow you to convert a .jpg image to a favicon... So, we decided to make a few favicons, which you can freely download and use. Below you will see a list of example images - this is how each favicon will look in the browser, in it's original size. To download the favicon, simply click on the image that you like. See the installation details below. All the favicons were created by Lorelei Web © 2006.

How to install and use the faviconHow to install and use the favicon?

After you've downloaded a favicon, it's time to add it to your site.

1. Upload the file ("favicon.ico") to your site. Verify it's there by typing http://www.mysite.com/favicon.ico in the browser's location, where "mysite.com" is your site's address.

2. Insert the below code into the <HEAD> section of your pages, at the very least, your site's main index page: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">

3. That's it! Note that your favicon may not appear immediately after you've completed the above two steps. In fact, it may take a few days, and in IE, sometimes the favicon will disappear from time to time due to a browser bug.
